Kuopio Conservatory

Founded in 1954, the Kuopio Conservatory is one of Finland’s biggest and most wide-ranging music schools, which provides both basic music and dance education and vocational music education. Basic music and dance education is given to a total of some 2500 children and young people in Kuopio and in the surrounding area. Most of the Conservatory operates in the Kuopio Music Centre, which was completed in 1985 and also houses the Savonia University of Applied Sciences, department of Music and Dance, the University of the Arts Sibelius Academy’s Kuopio Department, and the Kuopio City Orchestra. Thus, it is possible to study music and dance from early childhood to the highest vocational degrees in the same building.
